If you are wondering what you are not allowed to store in your unit, we do have a detailed list of items that are strictly prohibited. A lot of it comes down to common sense, but to make it simpler for you, the following items are a big no-no:
• Perishable goods. This specifically relates to food products. It attracts vermin, and just is not suitable for storage in our units.
• Weapons and explosives (yes, this includes fireworks).
• Chemicals of a dangerous nature. We will not stop you from storing your dish washing liquid, but it is not suitable to store any chemicals that are toxic, potentially harmful, or can contaminate other materials.
• Hazardous materials that emit an odour or gas, or are flammable or combustible.
• Plants and animals. If you run a pet shop, and need somewhere to keep your puppies and fish, this is not the place to do it.
• Illegal substances. You are not allowed to store anything in your facility that is illegal to possess, or has been illegally acquired.
• Valuables. This one can be tough, but if you are storing your grandmother’s vintage jewellery that is worth millions of Rands in your storage facility, you are looking for trouble. Art, jewellery, money, fine wine, and similar items should be stored in an alternative storage facility.
